East Africa Media Women's Website
Media associations from Ethiopia, Tanzania, Uganda, Mauritius, Madagascar, Seychelles, Somalia, Kenya, Comoros, Eritrea, Rwanda, Burundi and Malawi have in the past, used particularly seminars, advocacy and lobbying to raise awareness on issues that affect women in the region such as poverty, peace, education and HIV/Aids. Limited reach and cost of technology have however hampered their efforts. New Information and Communication Technologies (NICTs) can help to overcome these constraints. The East Africa Media Association will help the members associations to network and explore the potential of NICTs, particularly the Internet. It will help create linkages between the mass media and gender activists in a variety of field. -- Helping links: --
